@CaraBruar I think my posts are pretty objectively tame. I don't post obscenity or graphic descriptions of violence or whatever. I post about law and politics and technology and art. You can read what I write or not. Your choice. But if you do, you're taking a risk that it might fall outside your interests.
That's part of what makes life interesting, I think.

@mattblaze @CaraBruar I think that you are misunderstanding Cara's point here. One of the key features of the fediverse is that your feed is simply a firehose of everyone you follow. There is also very limited automated content discovery. This means that if you want to curate your feed further than a feed of everything posted by everyone that I have seen posting interesting things, you need to do it yourself. The easiest way to do that is to follow and filter for hashtags. That of course relies on people tagging their posts. It feels really necessary if federated social media is ever to work at scale.

@RobertoArchimboldi @CaraBruar Well, I guess I'm a hashtag scofflaw, then.
Deal with it.

@mattblaze @CaraBruar what is a scofflaw? Can I be one?

@RobertoArchimboldi @CaraBruar This bizarre obsession strangers have with how I format and tag my posts seems more like their problem than mine.
