@lproven LLMs have "escaped containment" a lot more than any of the earlier technologies that led to AI winters did, though. Who even heard of expert systems without either being a computer nerd or an expert in one of the domains they attempted to model?
(I'm not saying "LLMs are great"; I'm saying that LLMs have penetrated general culture enough that I have a hard time seeing them go away. This doesn't make me happy.)

you need to be a tinkerer, and be ready to accept some *significant* limitations, but there are workarounds
edit: I don't mean that they are *easy* workarounds, you need to be a tinkerer *and* to be motivated, and there will be some pain. but it can be done
