UCI Center for Neurotherapeutics Annual Symposium.
Already I'm late because the fancy new bike lockers apparently can't take a mini U-lock. It took me 10 minutes to figure out it really wasn't going to work and then find a new place to lock my bike.
The good news is that I figured out where the "shower/changing facilities" are in that new building.* The bad news is that building is totally locked down so I couldn't get in until someone let me in. Also the water pressure is garbage. But at least I'm dripping clean water from wet hair and not sweat. Even if people maybe can't tell the difference.
I have *so much stuff with me since this is a very bare bones option with no provided soap, let alone towels, etc.

I might be the only masker in this room. It's a very not full room (~50 people in a room than can fit ~100), but the one or two other regular maskers (shout out to Prof. Stephen Hanessian, but I think he only attends chemistry department specific semianrs) I see aren't in attendance.

We're still using this overly busy graphic background for a title slide/header on our web page. Boo.
(for some reason it's flipped left/right on the talk title slide from the dean, so I don't even know which is the original design, though I think the reversed one is correct because connections/molecules to drug/pill development reading left to right is probably what they were going for).

The first day of the Hackathon at #IETF124 in Montreal is coming to an end.
We implemented the relatively niche feature of XEP-0444: Message Reactions that allows channels or group chats to restrict the type and number of emoji reactions users can do.¹This brings us a step closer to advancing and stabilizing the XEP. We didn’t want to do that before, since we aim to have complete implementations before requesting a Last Call.

An Audio Brick For Your Smart Home
If you’ve ever wanted to pump sound to all the rooms of your house, you might use any one of a number of commercial solutions. Or, you could go the more DIY route and whip up something like the Esparagus Audio Brick built by [Andriy].
The concept is simple—it’s a small unit, roughly the size of a brick, which streams high-quality audio. It’s based around an ESP32, which pulls in digital audio over Wi-Fi or Ethernet. The microcontroller is hooked up to a TAS5825M DAC, which comes with a built-in amplifier for convenience. The Esparagus is designed for integration with Home Assistant, allowing for easy control as part of a smart home setup. It’s also compatible with Spotify Connect, AirPlay, and Snapcast—the latter of which provides excellent sync when using multiple units across several rooms.
Design files are available on Github for the curious. We’ve seen other neat projects in this space, before, too—like the charmingly-named OtterCast. Video after the break.

In ogni caso quella comunicazione del PD è perfettamente reale, come del resto è reale anche la repressione in piazza che di quella comunicazione è stata diretta conseguenza: "Ai giovani sono stati concessi 5 minuti con le bandiere, poi sono stati costretti ad andar via minacciati dal personale di sicurezza che stava monitorando la piazza."
