The enormous elephant in the room regarding the increasing demands on our electricity grid is simply this: we don't actually _need_ AI. It's not in any way a public need for public good. It's a private and public want. If you turned off every major GAI tomorrow nothing would demonstrably change except for our power consumption would go down and nvidia's stock would crash.

@stefano @jwildeboer I find this has broader applications…some people want to make Linux (or BSDs) a Windows or OSX replacement in a similar fashion, or refuse to use a Linux or BSD because it doesn't do $THING that Windows/OSX does. But I *don't want* a Windows or OSX. I want that Unix feel, and I'll stay here, even if it's not as popular.

Yesterday, we covered the costs of displacement, transportation, & tents for 6 families, & today Aral will continue for the rest of the families.I feel so much love, comfort, & peace of mind knowing they'll be in places where we can feel more reassured abt their safety.Thanks to all the donors.
