@eniko yeah, for lemmy specifically devs are quite on the tankie side, and that's on a good day, and there's a small crowd of Reddit defectors that brought their toxic mentality over in some servers, so usual caveats apply, but there's other software with similar functionality that AFAIK is less problematic in the community/social sense (mbin, piefed). No idea how good the moderation tools are on them though.

@eniko I mean, if you have to depend on an external service anyway, why not a community on lemmy or similar federated forum/aggregator?

Comunque, il grande è riuscito finalmente a superare il primo livello.

Non sono solito vantarmi di essere piú bravo dei miei figli in queste cose, ma quando gliel'ho fatto conoscere (sarà stato l'anno scorso o giú di lí) mi sono accorto di essere pesantemente fuori allenamento. Per far loro vedere un po' di momenti “clou” sono andato giú un po' pesante con l'hack megahit, e mio figlio mi ha preso pesantemente in giro per questo. Adesso che ha provato lui si è accorto che al di là dell'hack comunque una certa abilità tecnica è necessaria, ed ha ritrattato.

@eloquence I can understand people that don't want to build here on the Fediverse because of technical limitations of the protocol. But if *that*'s really the reason, and not an excuse for the social reasons, why not build over other open protocols with the same features as AT, but not controlled by Nazi-friendly cryptogrifters, like SSB or even something that is AP-compatible like the stuff developed by Mike MacGirvin?

t's quite possible for people (not just kids) to overreact to minor annoyances that become the vent for frustrations/distress that come/has been accumulated from other sources, which they may not even be conscious about. But that doesn't detract from the fact that the annoyance they react to *is* an annoyance.

@d10c4n3 @LaVi @bbacc @childishangel se funziona o meno dipende molto da tipo di pubblico che si ha, da quanto spesso si scrive, se e quanto si usano gli hashtag e compagnia bella. Il punto chiave da ricordare è che la diffusione non è algoritmica, ma organica. E non è un male boostare i propri post per migliorarne la visibilità a diverse ore del giorno (o della notte)

Wife isn't too happy about the choice of the horn for the end-of-timer sound, for her the hourglass makes her think of @jmechner's Prince of Persia so she would prefer something like the first beats of the PoP intro sounds to play. The heartbeat for the last 10 seconds could also be an idea. But obviously those sounds are copyrighted so I have to find free alternatives (preferably under CC0 or similar free culture license).
