Go continues to be the best web app building experience I've ever had. Today's enjoyable feature: Crazy good static analysis tools. go vet, staticcheck, golangci-lint, gosec. There's nothing I love more than tests I don't have to write.

The only true luxury left is being unreachable. -
It is cold, the days are short and gray.Stroganoff was good. Using jarlic caused me to put way too much garlic (not from a flavor perspective, because that's not possible, just from a texture and appearance perspective). But, you can't really go wrong with an umami explosion served over egg noodles.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Johnny Marr’s contemporary solo work lately.@jalefkowit the good Smith.

You tell 'em, Lisa@codinghorror Lisa is right about everything and Springfield, and the world, would be better off if we just listened to her.

I’ve been perpetually frustrated with the latest season of Stranger Things.@SecurityWriter yeah, I was pretty much immediately thinking, "so, Stranger Things is just really bad now, huh?" Even the charming characters are annoying this season. Jonathan was always a whiny little bitch that I never wanted to see or hear, but now I don't even really like Steve or Robin, and they're historically a joy on screen.

lol wynona ryder is so good in stranger things@unormal she really is. She's playing so far outside her usual thing...a kinda frazzled suburban mom is not her wheelhouse. But, she really sells it. She's underappreciated as an actress, I think.

wtf: https://bun.com/blog/bun-joins-anthropic@borntyping Anthropic CEO was just tweeting that developers will no longer be writing code in six months, and yet, they just threw a bunch of money at Bun to acqui-hire a bunch of developers. Either he was lying about the "no developers in six months" thing, or he's a phenomenally stupid business man. Bun is MIT-licensed, if Claude can improve and maintain it, or will be able to in six months, why spent all that money on people to do it?

REAPER is what desktop software is supposed to be, y'all.@matt oh, yeah, i didn't think about that. I knew they used their own toolkit for the GUI, which usually means poor accessibility. Do you know if there are any DAWs that have good accessibility from the vendor without a plugin?
I have no experience with accessibility for desktop software, as I've only ever worked on the problem for websites. I should read up on AccessKit, I guess.

Apple still screwing people on RAM, huh?@lontrachen we Linux users pay nothing to not have to deal with Windows or MacOS. (But, here I am spending several days getting a Windows build and thinking about what Mac to buy to build for Mac, because I can't make any money selling software to Linux users.)
-
Apple still screwing people on RAM, huh?@lontrachen $500 buys a mini PC with 32GB of RAM. Several models, in fact. The M4 chip blows the x86_64 CPU away in those cheap mini PCs, but RAM is at least as important to how responsive a system will be (moreso, almost certainly).
-
Apple still screwing people on RAM, huh?@lontrachen and, I guess that's software developers fault, more than Apple. But, Apple doesn't have to make it so difficult and/or expensive to deal with the reality of modern software. RAM is expensive, but not that expensive.
-
Apple still screwing people on RAM, huh?@lontrachen I'm not interested in a laptop, I certainly won't use the Mac as a daily driver. Just need something to build and test my apps on. I guess I don't really need a ton of memory (or disk) for that. It's just that Apple building their low-cost devices for almost immediate obsolescence is just so infuriating. It's not repairable, not upgradable, and too small even today. You have to spend over $1000 to get 24GB which is...sufficient for light use, I guess? Software has gotten so huge.

Big day for cantaloupe eaters in 1926.@dansinker why don't we have cantaloupes in a preserving shell, anymore? I'm just carrying around cantaloupes in nothing but their skin, like some kind of sucker. Probably because of woke.

Hi #fediverse.@Pepijn never a cow. Horses a few times. I grew up in a rural area, cows literally at the end of my block. But, riding them wasn't a thing anyone ever thought to do, AFAIK.

Zig with the new Zig backend builds so fast it's silly.Zig with the new Zig backend builds so fast it's silly. Fast compilation is the killer app of a programming language, and Zig is so fast I thought something was broken.
