It includes: A 3d feature graph for fediverse platforms Aggregated and fully searchable user stats graph/table Fediverse Enhancement Proposal tracker to improve visibility and tracking of fediverse feature development Links to various fediverse resources. I hope this is a useful tool for discovering new platforms/instances, and checking the overall trends for different platforms. Please feel free to provide any feedback you may have!

This reads like ragebait or a hit piece, but I don't even know what I'm supposed to rage about? We all use some sort of automod bot to flag or even ban accounts. We've all banned accounts for way less. Am I supposed to be offended that this user, of all people, was banned from anywhere? Or that an LLM summary is linked in the modlog for it? If an admin reviewed it, why should I care? Am I supposed to get mad about political profiling? /looks around to literally everywhere in the fediverse and gestures wildly. My only gripe is it would maybe be more environmentally friendly to just skim that profile instead of using an LLM but whatever. "Save the planet, ban people with the old ban hammer." IDK this whole thing feels like stirring shit for the sake of it. WTF is even the point of this post.

Yep. Unless somebody manages to ... inject a hostile/unauthorized LLM as a mod or admin or something, in an instance they're not an admin of, in a comm they're not a mod of... Then people react by personally blocking or perhaps instance wide defederating or maybe conceiveably someone actually uses this in a generally good way, to identify trolls/sock puppets. As to... LLM scraping of comments? Lemmy is public, anyone can do that. I've done it to myself with a local LLM hooked up to a search engine, and I'm not a mod or admin of anything. Hence why you probably should use a pseudonym and not give too much information about yourself, if you're concerned about privacy... same... rules the internet has always had. I suppose that instances could implement various anti-scraping measures, but that's never going to be 100% effective as scrapers vs anti-scrapers has also basically always been a constantly escalating arms race.

You'll get taken to a random community. Once you arrive there's a link at the top of the page to /r/random so you can just hammer away at that until you get somewhere that's the right combo of random and interesting. There is also /r/randnsfw that takes you to a random nsfw communty if your instance has them.

Blocking is completely unrelated to free speech. You having the right to say something does not imply that anyone should actually have to listen.

I’ll be totally honest and say that I don’t trust Evan (for reasons I’m not getting into), and I’m not sure why we need “hashtags with extra steps,” but I’d like to get opinions from people who are smarter than I am about this stuff.

I disagree. I think that you can have both. I think big tech has proven that it cannot be trusted. Their priorities are simply not in alignment with our own. Legislation seems to be the only lever that can hope to rein them in (market forces are no longer strong enough). At the same time, smaller networks do not have the resources to comply with government regulations to a T, and so they should be given a longer leash. Governments also do not have the resources to chase down every Tom, Dick, and Harry running a Lemmy server (well, they do, but they shouldn't.) Whether reality will play out this way is uncertain.
