Sure, activitypub.space will hook up. It's pending right now though, which means the
Followgot sent but we haven't received anAcceptor reciprocalFollow.

@julian Hmm, it seems the software I'm using has non-Public hard setting that isn't configurable on /actor, so I don't think it's compatible with your instance unless I can figure out a way to lax those settings 🤔

Also, what software are you using? I have mainly tested against Aoderelay, but I should be compatible with others too :)

I think I get the same error when a Friendica instance attempts as well.

This is the relevant bit of code after searching their repository... Let's see what I can dig up.

https://relay-us-east.circlewithadot.net/actor, so it should satisfy that constraint, but I am not sure where in the Activity-Relay code it is failing out. -

The LitePub section on FEP-ae0c: Fediverse Relay Protocols: Mastodon and LitePub is pretty vague about deviations from expectations. It would be good to shore up this FEP a bit.

If it exposes sockets to the Internet, it should be contained. Not by Docker but by Podman. #rootless

If the app relies on external services like PostgreSQL or Redis, Docker images with Helm charts or Docker Compose configs might make sense—they bundle the complexity nicely.
For standalone apps, system packages (deb/rpm) would be nice in theory, but I imagine maintaining packages for multiple distros is quite a bit of work. Maybe a practical middle ground could be: provide packages for the major families (RedHat + Debian) and offer a single-file executable as a fallback for everyone else?
Personally, I tend to avoid install scripts when possible—they feel less transparent to me, though I understand others might feel differently.
