@Mastodon is changing course when it comes to how people join the platform. In late 2022, the team decided to send sign-ups directly to their server in order to make onboarding more straightforward. But that didn't align with the promise of decentralization. Here, Community Director @haubles explains the new approach to server recommendation, along with some other ways Mastodon is helping build community.https://flip.it/1bWN26#Mastodon #SocialMedia #Decentralization #ActivityPub #Community #Technology #Tech

    >>> CONECTION ISSUE <<<Please boost and help to improve the connections in the fediverse* please scroll up for more information@support @retech @staff Hello defcon.social support, Thank you for your great commitment, whenever you are approached you immediately appear like the Cavalery! I will attach the next accounts where I notice these disturbances of the federated connections as links to this thread and if other defcon.social and/or fediverse users notice such disturbances, it would certainly be useful if they also announce this attached to this thread. It doesn't have to be screenshots like in the previous posts, with those I just wanted to show what it's about.#mastodon #fediverse #pixelfed #activitypub #issue

@Helge I suppose it's my own stupid fault for trying to actually follow the spec, rather than just pointing to it as an excuse for any interoperability problems. ;)

At this year's Solid Symposium, we gave a presentation on the lessons we've learned from building and maintaining several ActivityPods applications since 2022. The result is 14 key learnings that we're glad to share with the Solid community. More informations at https://activitypods.org/key-learnings-from-building-social-apps
