What are your thoughts on adding #ActivityPub support to a blog? I feel like blogs are different and should be separate from social media(?)
A simple solution for letting people comment on a blog post could be embedding a post including all of its replies. However, for blogs, you want comments to survive as long as possible and Fediverse servers generally don’t guarantee that.

rauschma@fosstodon.org bullish on the concept and potential.
I feel everything should be connected.. nobody says the fediverse is just shouting in the wind.
The threadiverse is proof of that, and those work very well in concert with long-form content like blogs.

The blogging server could store a copy of the comments.
(They are going to get pushed there anyway, by the commenter.)

@rauschma we have at least four blogging platforms that support AP: WriteFreely, Plume, WordPress and Ghost.

@rauschma I often use my Akkoma account like a blog, and nobody seems bothered by it. -

@atomicpoet Interesting! That’s another way of doing a blog-ActivityPub fusion.

@rauschma Mastodon fully displays Markdown. And if your post is over a certain character count, they snip it and add a “Read more…” so that those who are interested in reading lots of text can. -
