First 100: BadgeFed Explorer The verified Badge was issued to @MIchael S. Manley You ventured into uncharted territory and helped shape the BadgeFed project from the start. As one of the first 100 testers, your curiosity, feedback, and bug-finding instincts helped stabilize the platform. The fediverse will always remember your role in getting us off the ground—one crash, typo, and glorious bug report at a time. Earning Criteria: Awarded to the first 100 individuals who actively participated in the early testing phase of BadgeFed. This includes exploring the platform, submitting feedback or bug reports, and generally poking around where things probably weren’t ready yet. These badges are limited—no retroactive claims, no reruns, no exceptions. You were here. You mattered.. Issued on: 04/11/2025 20:45:42 Accepted On: 04/11/2025 22:32:22 Verify the Badge here. #badgefed #fediverse #activitypub #mastodon #IssuedByBadgeFed #_BadgeDrop

Looking for Fediverse oddities!I am super late, OVER THE DEADLINE to submit the slides of my talk at SFSCON 2025, but I still want to add a few little things, and I need tips.My presentation ends by listing a few “crazy but true” things about the Fediverse. Can you help me find a few more in the next couple hours? So far I have:Truth Social uses Mastodon and it was forced to open-source its code after it was discoveredSome public institutions host their own Fediverse instances! You could host a Fediverse server in your living roomYou can use a car’s on-board computer to power a Fediverse serverYou can synchronize your personal calendar with federated calendars from the Fediverse (using @gancio)You can buy indie music by paying an artist directly (using @bandwagon)You can do academic peer-reviews via the Fediverse (using @bonfire)What else??? I only want cool or incredible things.#Fediverse #help #oddities #conference #presentation #talk #SFSCON #SFSCON2025

@box464 Some 10-20, not more.Usually it's either a long form article or a video I want to see in a later moment, or suggestions for movies/series/books for which, if I appreciated them, I want to remember who to thank for suggesting

In general that's a good idea because you should never trust content coming from somewhere else (even in an S2S context) For reference, NodeBB literally sanitizes the bejeezus out of what it gets from anywhere. All classes are removed, all attributes are removed. I want it as close to semantic HTML as possible, and classes/attributes mean absolutely nothing because: I don't use the same CSS classes Attributes may not follow my own rules for when and where they are added. For example, Mastodon messes with any URL it federates out. It chops the anchor text in half, hides the rest behind invisible or something, and adds an ellipsis. invisible does something different in NodeBB, so there is a CSS conflict here. I strip everything and just show the URL as it was intended.
