  • Thanks for sharing, that's quite exciting. I'm assuming BlueSky users can post to Lemmy instances (like other threadiverse) instances by mentioning the group actor?

  • Last I heard the Forkiverse instance has over 2k members! All the power to them

  • The host Search Engine, PJ Vogt, and the host of Hard Fork, Kevin Roose, discussed their thoughts about a “new kind of Internet” possible with the Fediverse. They also talked about the challenges of the somewhat technical barrier to entry.

I especially liked them sharing their perspectives; the Fediverse seems to simultaneously be a recreation of a pre-shittified Internet and something new altogether.

They even created their own live Mastodon server to see how that would go: https://theforkiverse.com/explore They ended up testing OpenAI’s Operator to do the heavy lifting of coding, but did make the realization they did not know how their own user verification works or how to change it.

I am just elated that there is talk in the “mainstream” of the Fediverse. I’m hopeful that some attention such as this can help raise awareness and pique some curiosities.

  • Why? was there high demand to talk with ICE supporters?

  • The vote counter seems to be broken (it’s different on different Lemmy instances), is this the same issue as Mastodon not federating likes properly?

That is normal, for example if one instance has some users banned then their votes wont count. If another instance doesnt ban those users, it will count their votes as well. Besides user bans this can also happen with instance blocks.

Otherwise, nice! While I am sure Bluesky will enshittify in the long run, for now they seem vaguely better than other corporate social media. Federation can help us make more people aware of the AP Fediverse, or worst-case just have more users to share memes with

I’ve uploaded to pixelfed – a photo of the brocolli soup I made for dinner. Mom had made cauliflower and roti for dinner along. Loved it all! I also uploaded to my Peertube – my first video on there yay! I had to shorten the version and do Part one and two and get the 1080p to 480p so it went up fast there. I assume – there is no app through which I could upload through directly over there – has to be from browser and so on I have experienced. Today the things that wondered me was Michel Valdrighi whose forked project became WordPress. Hello called it b2/cafelog and reading about it all and how Matt and a Mike from UK connected via the blog – and started it as a project. I also read the blog where Matt discusses about the same in start of the 2000s and I was like – oh my god! The idea sprouted there as it was GPL and could be forked there. I’ve been taking interest in internet history a lot this year – and such dives by fellow bloggers are quenching my thirst further on. Have you heard of that Ethiopian volcano erupting after Holocene era? The ashes came over my country India and many flights in capital were cancelled. I am in Central India so – nothing happening here as much. But the eruption threw the ashes and sprinkled over another continent. Fhew!

Ever wonder why you see the #fedi22 hashtag in bios?Yeah, that's my fault. I built a People Directory in 2022 for the #fediverse that used that hashtag for verification.I'll improve it and make it way better, perhaps with Starter Pack support 😉https://fediverse.info/explore/people
