So responses to polls are just an ActivityPub message too, right? Like if the server had an interface for it someone could see each individual response?
If I had the time I'd build a matchmaking bot that just spews out polls and tries to match up people who give similar responses. Hell, once it got well enough integrated into the network it could probably start using other peoples' polls too. Maybe have a dedicated hashtag for such polls to make them easier to find and let anyone contribute. And there could be competing bots with different algorithms! You wouldn't even have to sign up for a website, it could run against any account in the fediverse... (Presumably with some kind of opt-in mechanism of course.)

The server which sends votes *could* reveal how everyone on that specific server voted.
Whether it is a good idea to turn that into matchmaking, I couldn't say!

@heiglandreas there is an auto-approve, but in the current version it can take some time to be synced with all platforms.

@pfefferle I am just not sure this is really worth the effort TBH....
When the originla author needs to approve the embedding that can take quite some time and when it is done, it's already out of my timeline....
Perhaps it'd be better to show the link to the post until it is approved?

The more I work on #ONI, which is basically a web components frontend for an as basic as possible #ActivityPub client to server service, the more I realize I'm just not built for JavaScript programming.
Despite having put in the hours every day for a number of months, the whole Promise paradigm just doesn't seem to click for me.
Now I'm struggling to create a throbber component (easy) while fetches happen in the background (easy) and then have it replaced (not easy) by actual content (easy).
