auster@thebrainbin.org may I ask you to expand in what you mean by "underlying engine"? If you're talking about ActivityPub then it's a open standard which isn't beholden to any one organization. It's like saying HTML is bad because websites are all forced to use it as the underlying engine. I personally feel that the technical and mental overhead of maintaining a bridge is much worse than the overhead of a slowly changing standard. What if there are bridges for 20 different protocols, 200? When does it get unweildy?

I'm working on federation issues.👻 Release v3.1.2 of Ktistec improves support for Lemmy and community servers like it that distribute content by wrapping it in Announce activities (FEP-1b12: Group federation support). Ktistec also supports the audience property, although support for that was removed from Lemmy earlier this year.🎃 This release also adds support for delivering to shared inboxes, which are widely supported by other ActivityPub servers. Despite being federated, the Fediverse is not highly distributed, and this optimization can reduce outbound delivery traffic by 10-20x.AddedSupport for the Dislike activity.Support for the audience property on activities and objects.Support for delivery to shared inboxes.Support for full-width hash signs in hashtags (e.g. #日本語) commonly used in Japanese and other Asian languages.FixedStrip HTML from object summaries rather than escaping it.Properly unwrap Lemmy-style Announce activities.ChangedDestroy discarded drafts instead of deleting them.Enjoy!#ktistec #fediverse #activitypub #crystallang

@mlabowicz Thanks! I’ll have to figure out how to get this done. Right now, #Emissary is pretty light on stats and analytics, but I can see how this would help make it fun for people to use :)

I think that if we really want to stop #chatcontrol we need to change how we tell the story. On the #fediverse we are a bunch of tech savvy people and we can articulate, understand and also have arguments on technical matters, but the real consensus pools are somewhere else, and they speak another language.Chatcontrol is like violating mail confidentiality. All regulations of nearly all countries guarantee that letters and correspondence are confidential. This is what should be told to people, that the regulation aims at removing this right. It's like the post office will read and evaluate each and every envelope they receive (and who says that they will not?).
