@pfefferle — that sounds intriguing, not sure I understand.
Can I get an RSS feed from an ActivityPub account?
For example, my mastodon.social account…
https://mastodon.social/@davew
Is that accessible through RSS?
@davew just add a .RSS to your profile linke like this
https://mastodon.social/@davew.rss
Only public posts tho I believe

Yes I know all about that. I’m asking a specific question about the work that Matthias announced earlier.

@davew @shadowwwind we check the profile URL for the rel-alternate header. this works for most of the current platforms.

@davew we just released our Fediverse/ActivityPub to RSS bridge. If you are in WordPress.com and follow someone on the #fediverse we add their RSS feed to the WordPress.com Reader.
@pfefferle @davew This is awesome! I am excited about this! For now, is this web only or do you have plans to export this to the #WordPress app‽ Also, if someone runs multiple blogs, will all of their follows appear in the reader‽

thanks @darnell 😊
There are no plans for the WordPress App yet. But this is mainly because this is a different team with a different timeline.
Regarding the Reader: Yes, all feeds of all blogs will end up in the reader.

Yes, I know about that, not sure what your new feature does, is it only for connecting with WP’s feed reader?

I like it, but will not use it. This will trigger the German ANTI wp.com / Automattic front.
What can you tell them, not deleting the plug-in because of possible connections to JetPack and WordPress.com.
And again, thank you for your great work.

@davew yes, for now. but it can be generalized to be able to connect any kind of feed reader.

@NickBohle @darnell there is no need to be triggered in any way, because the ActivityPub plugin will not force you to install Jetpack nor will make any connections itself.
This is a simple: If you are on DotCom or if you already use Jetpack, you can use this feature, otherwise you have to wait until we have the built in reader ready :)

well, it does not trigger me, but does the plug-in send requests to jetpack/wp.com to check if the user is known? and if, what does Automattic do with the requests?
Sorry for asking, but I'm afraid that the plug-in might be cancelled due to lack of transparency.

@NickBohle @darnell The ActivityPub plugin simply checks if Jetpack is installed on your blog. If not, it will do nothing ☺️
No lookups, no pings, just a local check for another plugin.

@darnell @pfefferle @davew No need to export it to the Jetpack app, it works the same there!
