@elettrona @fediverso @evan I guess I mean ragebait? Like it can be a good resource talking about bad stuff but I won't usually share someone saying bullshit to say "this is bullshit"

This is an ace introduction to the #Fediverse by @_elena - I'm learning lots from this too. Especially the peertube stuff is helpful. I have a channel and I don't know how to use it properly really either... https://mastodon.social/@_elena/115264549144055806

Right, everyone, I spoke to @seengoals and the two account creation attempts on different friendly servers (https://gaza-verified.org/guide#servers/) was actually him.He hadnโ€™t realised this was against the rules.Iโ€™ve now asked him if he does actually one to migrate to one of the two servers as it will help us to protect his account better in the future or if he wants to stay on mastodon.social.I will update both admins with his decision and weโ€™ll sort it out.(He has to travel for Internet access and it isnโ€™t safe so bear with us.)For the time being, his only verified account is @seengoals But it wasnโ€™t the insulin scammer as we previously thought trying to impersonate him :)๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จCC @trumpet @Admin

Running a community in the Fediverse means balancing openness with safety. Every year, @iftas takes the pulse of administrators, moderators, and community managers with their Annual Needs Assessment. This survey helps identify whatโ€™s working, where support is needed, and which tools can make a difference for those keeping decentralized spaces safe. The 2025 survey is now openTake part in the IFTAS Needs Assessment (5โ€“10 minutes).Take the survey now(If you havenโ€™t seen them before, you can also take a look at last yearโ€™s report)Last yearโ€™s responses represented moderators of over 4.3 million accounts across ActivityPub platforms. With WordPress now the largest group of federating instances, itโ€™s especially important for our community of hosts, site admins, and moderators to be heard.Moderation in WordPress: From Site-Wide to Personal ControlsWe recently introduced a major update to the ActivityPub plugin for WordPress: personalized and site-wide moderation tools.Site administrators can now set domain, keyword, and actor-level blocks that protect the entire site.Individual users can fine-tune their own experience with personal blocks, managed directly from their profiles.Content is checked against both global and personal rulesโ€”so moderation works at every level. These improvements directly address needs raised in previous IFTAS surveys, making moderation more discoverable, flexible, and effective for WordPress communities in the Fediverse.Your Input MattersIFTAS uses the Needs Assessment to guide tools, policies, and advocacy that reflect the real-world challenges of moderatorsโ€”especially those in under-resourced communities. The more representative the responses, the stronger the outcomes for everyone. If youโ€™re running a federating WordPress site, please consider:Filling out the survey yourself.Sharing it with other admins, moderators, and community organizers.Reminding folks that itโ€™s anonymous, quick, and impactful.Take the 2025 Fediverse Needs AssessmentTogether, we can keep building a safer, healthier Fediverseโ€”one that reflects the needs of its communities.
