#AskFedi what's the best third party Android app for Mastodon??
-
@CathyBikesBook Best is very subjective, but I'm a big fan of Subway Tooter. it's very customizable, works really well on both tablets and phones and handles multiple accounts. the best of any I have found.
@CathyBikesBook Oh, and I believe it's on both fdroid and Google Play. It's definitely on fdroid, I'd have to double-check Google Play

#AskFedi what's the best third party Android app for Mastodon?? Preferably one that can be found on F-Droid or Google Play. #Android #fediverse #Mastodon
@CathyBikesBook@mstdn.plus the best first Party App is #Fedilab and then #Tusky.
mastodon is the worst third party app -

@CathyBikesBook On Google Play, Rodent used to have a few interesting features such as grouping posts by author. #phanpy on the web is great, comes with a bunch of interesting features too. Fedilab might be the most feature-laden ones of these but it feels a bit slow compared to Tusky or Moshidon. Would be interested to know, though, whether there's something you're missing in the Mastodon client - that might be of help providing good suggestions. 😊 -

@z428eu I like the layout and color scheme of the Mastodon web browser. I'm on Android.

@CathyBikesBook I'd give Moshidon a try then. It feels rather slick and has a bunch features that make it stand out a bit compared to Mastodon. 😊 -

@CathyBikesBook
I've been using Moshidon since I joined.
It's not perfect, but it's also very stable, and infrequently updated, which I consider a plus. -

@CathyBikesBook every time someone asks this I read the thread and find apps I never knew existed, which is cool... but I try them out and then fall back to using Tusky anyway :) Maybe it's better or maybe it's just familiarity.

@CathyBikesBook@mstdn.plus when I was on mastodon I mostly used moshidon only because it displayed edge to edge images.
Maybe also because I could follow other instance's loac timeline. I still have moshidon installed for this feature on Sharkey.
But I remember using @phanpy@hachyderm.io , @elk@m.webtoo.ls and https://pl.mkljczk.pl as web frontend -
@CathyBikesBook Moshidon for me. Extra points too for Phanpy.social which doesn't have an app but works great saved as a Web app. Others will probs say Tusky or Pachli (the latter an improved fork of the former).
@emsquared Thank you for the Phanpy recommendation! I've been using it for a few days now and I absolutely love how it handles boosts! I thought it being a PWA would be an issue, but it actually works out really nicely. I like it even more than my previous favorite web app, Elk.

@candide ah great. Glad you are getting on with it. Bit quirky at first but it works really sickly. The catchup feature is the secret weapon. Enjoy.

@candide Still got love for Elk BTW. Used it for a long while but Phanpy has that X factor.

@emsquared Absolutely! I still prefer Elk on desktop.

@CathyBikesBook I've settled on Tusky. There's also alternative web frontends that can be used as PWAs like Phanpy that are quite interesting feature wise
