Went for a walk yesterday. The colors get pretty muted in winter here, and all the suburban homes are greige (grey/beige), so it feels pretty desolate. Still, Spouse alerted me to the existence of a third pond (visible here) and a fourth. I swear it's the first I've heard of them.

Went for a walk yesterday.@Sharksonaplane Thanks, Shar! I was mad about the how the trees look in the background. Still more to come in this batch! Watch this space!

Went for a walk yesterday.I call the tall grass here “cattails” but that’s not what they are.
I’ve visited this pond several times during this sojourn and the previous one, and never noticed the standpipe (visible at the left end of the pond, little dollop of snow on top) until I zoomed in on this poorly composed photo. Please enjoy.

Went for a walk yesterday.Went for a walk yesterday. It was warm enough to take some pictures. I’ll put them up in a thread, about one per day, as is my wont.

Pronouncing "Irondequoit" as though it's French.@dillyd There's a town in I think Mississippi, Gautier, which is pronounced "GAW-sher". And a street in Detroit ("dee-TROIT") called Gratiot ("GRASH-it").
Dutch amuses. I grew up near the Schuylkill ("SKOO-kəl") River and last year my subway station was Hoyt-Schermerhorn ("SKIM-a-horn").
Spouse is always amused by a town near where she grew up, Chesaning, whose residents pronounce it with the stress on the final syllable, or used to, anyway. These things surprisingly change. Friend of mine grew up in Athens, N.Y. when it was still pronounced "AY-thənz".
I'll see myself out 😜
