@feike @catsalad A cheetah? Not at all! Cheetahs actually quite like humans, even in the wild, because humans don't look like food to them and don't bully them like other predators. To them, humans are this fascinating creature that's magically chill, drives mobile rocks to get a better view from, and might even deliver head scritches.

They've long been a popular pet of the rich or hunting dogs of royalty because they tame easily.

@feike @catsalad @ratsnakegames If it wasn't clear, this is all in jest and I would not, actually, abduct a wild cougar to bring into my house and hug them and squeeze them and love them forever. XD

But it's fun to fantasize as a cat lover.

@catsalad @feike At minimum 6 lbs. of meat a day at $6.30/lb. for ground beef, 365 days a year, it comes out to exactly $13,797.00/year/cheetah.

Naturally cheetahs also need trace amounts of plant nutrients they would otherwise get from prey, so the best way to do it would probably be as meatloaf using whole grains and probably healthy and safe veggies like green beans, which are not factored into that calculation.

Edit: This is to say that big cat diets are remarkably like housecat diets, but while Meow Mix is $28 for 26 lbs. and would only come to $1,703.34, I'm pretty sure feeding Meow Mix to a cheetah would get you locked up for animal abuse. XS

@feike @catsalad @ratsnakegames It's not an issue if you bring them inside to keep. ;)

@catsalad NGL, there was one spotted in my area with a collar that had stopped working several miles ago and my first thought was "how do I put out stinky wet cat food without it freezing in sub-zero weather, life is so unfaaaaaair! T_T" XD

I mean maybe I'm an idiot, but I did calculate the amount of hamburger it would take to keep a cheetah once.
