I am getting better with sign language.My last dog went deaf in her final years and I used hand signals to communicate with her. It wasn't anything like ASL, but still quite effective. I've learned that dogs respond well to such signals if one is patient and consistent.

Edit: I'm a dumbass. I just needed to stop all mastodon services first, then it ran fine. Maybe a memory issue? Anyway, it's fine now.
