There's been a lot of propaganda by a variety of people that has sold art as only entertainment (for self or others). Companies like Disney do it because it makes creative folks more willing to compromise vision for limited profit, folks in other industries promote this idea because it gives them a surplus of creative folks to advertise their products and folks in power do it because they want to limit the understanding of ideas as power.

During the part of 2020 where things had been shut down but some people wanted reopenings, I saw a dramatic increase in car ads that leaned heavily into car means freedom. The cruise companies also advertised like this.
Creative folks need to be re-empowered by the understanding that imagation is a huge source of power in the world. It isn't just entertainment.
