@afewbugs I struggled with this too. For stuff that is literally every week at set times I now have a chores calendar group with reminders.
For other stuff I have tasks, and when 'completing' I essentially snooze a custom time. You never get the satisfaction of closing it, unless you want to copy it again and again all manually 😥
