I get ghosted by a friend after persuading him to use Fediverse, Matrix, Delta Chat.Some person making products in their garage that provably out-perform the large company offerings get ignored because "their thing cant possibly be better, they dont have the budget and resources!"
Its so weird. I know people who treat paying large money for something from a large brand as a point of pride. Clearly I am not normal in this regard as I view everything on its own merits.
It is clear that for most people, and "brand" released thing feels safer; Marketing works, I suppose. The smallest bit of self awareness and critical thinking should snap these people out of it but it just doesnt happen.
