After spending five nights in the hospital, home seems strangely lacking in people!

Fancy gent just before leaving hospital a few hours ago to return home! Now back in the lap of—not luxury…modesty?

Now in the final stage of hospitalization. All the wires and tubes removed. Walking around just fine. I feel generally great. Last stages are OT and PT so that I’m set to return home and then start rehabilitation.

Glenn‘s wife Lynn here. If you’re following along with his health saga, he sailed through yesterday‘s cardiac surgery! He’ll move slowly for a while, but he’s already telling jokes and offering medical trivia to, well, the medical team. Did you know that the medicine colchicine comes from crocuses?!

Hi, folks, a little personal news. In mid-November, I'm getting my aortic valve replaced via open-heart surgery. As scary as that sounds, my prognosis is excellent. This is fairly personal health news, and I'm posting publicly for two reasons.

First, I am so grateful for the friendships and collegial connections formed here. In the unlikely event that something goes wrong, I wanted to say thank you. Second, of course, is the sad issue of money and American healthcare and disability support.
