I intended it to be a call to action. I’ve said elsewhere in this thread that it was phrased poorly. I stand by that, even more so now that I see it interpreted as a signal that I don’t care. I’m sorry I wasn’t more thoughtful with my words.

I’m here to listen, and I’m here to do my best to address the needs and concerns of our community. I hope I can prove that to you with my actions.

What I really wanted to say was exactly what you articulated here: let's never lose access to hope, and never lose the belief that we have the power to enact change in the world.
