really important advice fucking nobody mentions that i really wish i'd been told exactly a decade ago: there is absolutely no reason to build your new programming language "from scratch". fork that shit with extreme prejudice. make a prototype. make so many prototypes you forget about the prototypes. don't get overwhelmed by having to build your whole runtime: just steal whatever works. artwork is greater than the sum of its parts
