The model she chose included parking sensors, and had to be sold with them – except thanks to the shortages, Opel couldn't actually include them, so the dealership had to add aftermarket sensors to the car.

@someone_else @dan Both my cousin and sister have a Bosch series 4 dishwasher. Cousin's is 2-3 years old, and has no WiFi connectivity, sister's is about half a year old, has WiFi, and requires you to use the app to use some features that are available through buttons on the older model, because it's so much easier to put the dishes in, find the phone, unlock it, run the app, wait for it to load, scroll down to the dishwasher, tap it, then select the program instead of pressing 2-5 buttons.

@the_wub Sadly, when you get 5000 requests per second from residential IPs (each IP doing 10-20 requests, all using user agents from legitimate browsers), there's very little other things you can do. This is not an exaggeration, that's what was happening at a client that has a web server hosting about 50 sites for their projects – they were getting hit with that several times per week, bringing the whole server down until we implemented Anubis.

@misnina I think you have a typo in the e-mail address.

@the_wub They check user-agent and challenge anything that claims to be Mozilla (because that's what the majority of bots masquerade as).

Also, weird that Seamonkey can't pass it – I just tried with Servo, and it had no problems.

What I loathe are the throbbing placeholders that seem to be everywhere now, causing simple text pages to load slower than similarly-looking pages (once the content renders) loaded on dial-up.

@AmeliaBR The new Notepad is so awful I uninstall it from my machines – that reverts to the classic Windows Notepad, which Microsoft crippled in Win11 by not allowing you to associate any files with. Luckily, there's a fix.

@eniko @Texan_Reverend Keep in mind that even on pretty bad CRT monitors, the picture would look much closer to what it looks like on LCDs than on CRT TVs. VGA monitors were not that bad.

@darkling @mcc I haven't done a rm … * yet, but I did manage to blkdiscard /dev/nvme0n1 and blkdiscard /dev/nvme1n1 when I meant nvme0n1p4 and nvme1n1p4, thus destroying both (mirrored) system drives in my server. Backup thankfully worked.

@mcc @rachelplusplus IIRC some Samsung laptops could get bricked by writing too much data to the EFI variable area (which easily happened with Linux kernel crashes, but could also happen from Windows).

@gsuberland @0xabad1dea I've got a Xonar U7 MK II, and at some point a process its support app runs started popping up a crash dialog at every login. I tried deleting the program first, but that caused a different error, then I put it back and modified ACLs so it can't run. Problem solved.

@0xabad1dea Yeah, the new troubleshooting app is worse than useless. The old troubleshooters at least sometimes worked, this one just insults your intelligence.

@draeath @GossiTheDog If that was the ultrasound, that's manufacturer's problem for not using Embedded or IoT Windows.

If it was the workstation, it's the hospital IT's fault for not configuring update policies properly (though I don't know what's worse – what happened here, or what I see in hospitals, where Windows on workstations usually remains unchanged from the moment we install it).
