During the opening ceremony, Anastasia Kucherova, a Russian woman living in Milan, carried the Ukrainian team placard anonymously. She considers herself "anti-war" and wanted to make a statement. Unfortunately, she didn't ask the Ukrainian athletes for permission, imposing herself on them much like Russian soldiers impose themselves on the Ukrainian people every day.
