    @aharoni (but also I don’t think this is a new feature, at least overall? I seem to remember having a “follow recommendations” section in the mod settings from when I first became a mod here. possibly the UI is new or was recently changed, idk)

    TIL: light level geolocator (or global location sensor, GLS). tiny device that you can stick on an animal (like a migratory bird). records ambient light level and the time. later you get it back and read out the data. time between dawn and dusk gives you latitude; offset of mid-day from UTC noon gives you longitude. no GPS or transmission capability needed. really neat! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_level_geolocator?wprov=sfla1
