@_elena@mastodon.social @leanderlindahl@social.folkdata.se (for context, NextCloud can be self hosted and is open source but the fact they offered paid for enterprise options to schools and universities suggests they think it can take the place of classroom in at least some ways)

Does anyone know of schools using something other than #GoogleClassroom for schools and education? -
Does anyone know of schools using something other than #GoogleClassroom for schools and education?@_elena@mastodon.social @leanderlindahl@social.folkdata.se To get the ball rolling, NextCloud do offer an education product (including a hosted option) and are based in Germany, I believe. That said, I haven't used it and I don't know where the hosting happens. nextcloud.com/education/

Does anyone know of schools using something other than #GoogleClassroom for schools and education?@leanderlindahl@social.folkdata.se @_elena@mastodon.social # LibreClassroom sounds good, it doesn't seem like a thing that would need to be EU only (as long as solutions are able to be hosted in the EU). I'd be interested in this as well.

Meanwhile, in the world of Amazon reviews…@cstross@wandering.shop @BigJackBrass@social.vivaldi.net "I've now finished this book and no longer need it, so I've sent it back."

This packet of crisps proudly advertises that it's made from natural salt.@quixoticgeek@social.v.st I'd be more worried by them specifying natural potatoes. Unnatural potato crisps sound like something from, well, a @cstross@wandering.shop novel.

We knew this was coming, but now the clock is running.@cstross@wandering.shop @briankrebs@infosec.exchange it doesn't just look dangerous, it looks actually impossible (legally) for many of us if that goes through. I don't have access to all of the information they're asking for even if I did want to give it to them (which I don't).

Repeat after me: Rust is a machine that turns security incidents into downtime incidents@mcc@mastodon.social the scary thing about this framing is that it rather highlights the fact that security issues don't tend to have (short term) cash flow implications, while downtime incidents do.
