@cogitoblood @LillyHerself A kids book with a trans character can’t cross a line unless the line you’ve drawn is “exposure to a class of human being that exists and deserves to be happy and respected” imo. Kids should learn early on that there are tons of different kinds of people so that they grow up to be more tolerant than we are, because ultimately to get to your “none of anyone’s business” you’d have to increase tolerance.
