Think twice before setting up a new account using your Google, Facebook or Apple sign-in.

This gives 3rd party sites access to information connected to your account that could be sold on.

    Fancy a digital chastity belt?

The UK government wants Apple and Google to stop you from taking or sending pics of your bits.

Intrusive scanning tech on your phone would block nudes unless you verify your age with biometrics or official ID.

    It's creepy mission creep.

    openrightsgroup@social.openrightsgroup.orgundefined openrightsgroup@social.openrightsgroup.org

The UK Online Safety Act is already producing harmful unintended consequences.

ORG urges MPs to support a more balanced, evidence-based and rights-respecting approach that protects children without harming freedom of expression, privacy or the existence of small sites.

"A data regulator that fails to deter bad practices is not worth having."

Rules only work if they're actually enforced.

With the Information Commissioner's Office (UK), we've seen a collapse in the use of corrective powers when data protection laws are broken.

We need an inquiry into this failing watchdog.

Meta's new subscription service monetises our data rights 🏧

Thousands of people exercised their data protection rights and asked Meta to stop using their personal data for advertising.

Their response? Users must consent to the use of their personal data for targeted advertising, or cough up the dosh to opt out.

To respect our data rights, Meta must offer a tracking free version to implement this in a lawful way.
