I always appreciate direct feedback. and even if I have a strong opinion on things (especially because I’m maybe the harshest critic among users), the plugin must be usable for everyone (maybe except of some very special edge cased ☺️)

I made it a separate plugin because in the early days of ActivityPub, WebFinger was used by Diaspora, OStatus and ActivityPub. To ensure that every plugin can extend/make use of WebFinger, I decided to have a dedicated plugin.

Over time, we implemented WebFinger directly into the ActivityPub plugin, so there is no need to install it.

But the AP plugin still supports the WebFinger plugin. So it will work either way.

@liaizon @jorgecandeias @rompe @fediversereport @newsmast this is not a problem of the plugin itself, it is a correlation with caching plugins that cache the wrong (the JSON) representation. there are several options: deactivate the caching, change the caching plugin or deactivate content negotiation.

@cogdog @barking @activitypub.blog you are right. the plugin hooks into the embed feature of WordPress and adds support for ActivityPub enabled objects. This should work with every post, note, article, event, ... from a fediverse platform, that has not enabled AUTHORIZED_FETCH.

Das erste wäre ein bug, das zweite ist ein Feature zum Schutz deiner Leser!

@NickBohle @obenland the application user is a default user that is used for every operation where you do not need a user context. For example updating the local cached objects or to retrieve remote data. It is not possible to follow this user (it will reject every follow request) and it will not publish anything.
