Light switch changed, lamp reattached to the ceiling. Woodwork and radiator painted. Carpenter has drawn pencil lines over the walls where all the wardrobes have to be built. Think he's been spending the day mostly correcting all my measurements which are apparently even more approximate than I thought. Figuring out how to compensate for the wonky walls that aren't all at proper right angles.

Can't really see the pencil lines in the photos here but makes it easier to imagine how it'll all come together.

Wall painting completed. Apparently there'll be another coat after all the cupboards are built since building them may result in damage to existing layers.

Completed though is the big white wall covered in whiteboard paint. They tell me it should be left for at least a week before any washable markers are applied but I think it'll be longer than that.

Skirt & wood still to be done, which is a bit behind schedule coz on Monday the carpenter starts building the cupboards.

So two workers in for the day on Monday.

Today the builder painted most of the walls. Not the whiteboard-wall yet. Least not with the overcoat.

Painted the radiator-pipes. Radiator itself was removed and put back on.

When he left I went for a shower and found the water cold. Boiler saying error and pressure gauge too low, so I turn the tap to re-pressurize the loop. Probably just coz the radiator was removed I guess. Boiler boots up. Had a quick shower.

But alas, now I find the radiator is splaying a fine jet of water from it's bleed valve 😬

Intercepted that jet with a towel into a bucket, where most of the water has ended up. Dripping a bit still. Hope spraying the drying paint with water isn't too damaging.

Hopefully he can fix that up somewhat tomorrow.

Meanwhile the pine has arrived. 15 square meters of it. Good chunk of the cost getting all that wood.

Ceiling is painted, and some more fine grained filler in the wire-holes.

Think painting the walls and woodwork shall be next.

Not really sure why he took the radiator off today. Presumably whatever prep was going into the walls needed to be done behind it? He put it back on anyway.

All looks mostly the same to me other than filling in the routes that hold the wires. Which apparently is just stage one of that, and a finer filler will be applied tomorrow.

Suspect maybe some amount of slack on account of the guy who was supposed to be bringing the paint this morning not turning up until (hopefully) tomorrow.

    Today was stripping day!

The builder came in and stripped all the wallpaper off of the walls to leave the mostly white and partly scarred walls. Also covered the carpet in plastic since plastering and painting begin soon.

Electric work apparently finished I think. Power only off for fifteen minutes or so.

As said, the existing sockets can't be removed for some reason but he's left 'em live rather than a blank face-plate.

Plenty of electric sockets in this room now! Fourteen! And eighteen USB power sockets too!

Face-plates not attached to the sockets yet, do that after the plastering I believe. So they look a bit shoddy for now.

Next up is presumably wall paper stripping and painting but electrician didn't seem to know if he was doing that or someone else or if it'll be done tomorrow so I guess that'll all be a surprise.

Lots of channels cut into the walls ready to be wired and have new plug sockets added.

The existing plug socket's back-boxes are apparently stuck or important for the wiring or something so can't be removed. Can't just expand those holes to have 2-gang sockets in their place. I'm told that we'll have to put a blank face plate on them and add the new 2-gang sockets above instead of to replace the existing ones. Won't really matter at all, they'll be behind the drawers or inside the sideboard cupboard anyway.

    New carpet fitted.

Sadly due to scheduling difficulties that's it until the first of October now. The electrics and painting of walls and skirt etc happen then.

Today I emptied the room ready for the actual professions. Took apart all the cupboards and the bed and packed it all into the van to drive to the tip.

Only just fit in the van really.

Spent more than half the day doing it and I'm knackered but as you can see, the room is empty and ready for the carpet fitters on Monday.

It's time for building work. Uh ho.

The bedroom that has remained undecorated and mostly dark since I moved in more than 20 years ago will finally be stripped and rebuilt according to my specifications.

What is my specifications? Humm. Well. I live alone and nobody can tell me what to do so I'm doing it Tardis themed.

Mostly I built the shape of it in Blender last year and the tardis theme only popped out when I readdressed that design this spring with an eye to actual colors. Adding the frosted glass to the windows on the top cupboards is the main thing that sells it.

Here's the video I made for the builder.
