@dalias the US requires all incoming parcels to have proof of prepaid duties and tariffs no matter the value or purpose. Canada Post requires going through this US company that exists to provide that proof to the US government (for an extra fee of course)

You *have* to use some US tech companies phone app that demands location permissions. It reaaaally wants you to take pictures of everything you are sending so it can use AI to determine what tariffs to charge.
Then, you have to prepay the duties (plus extra fees, because fuck you) and they give you a code that Canada Post uses to prove you've paid.
This will be the last thing I send to the US.

I use Tailscale for home purposes, mostly so I can access movies from other locations without having to deal with reverse proxies and security.@YouShallNotPass I got the first email and I shrugged too. I was like oh that's kinda disappointing but fine I guess. I didn't think complaining to them was worth the effort. I didn't expect them to apologise for it!
I was reading your post with a sinking despair that they had really doubled down and was kinda delighted when it was actually the opposite!
