helge@mymath.rocks to be fair, while I can't speak for the Mastodon devs, I think they've come around to the idea that a more robust solution is needed (perhaps renchap@oisaur.com can weigh in.)
The long-form content people have been advocating for use of summary as an actual summary. It will take time to rewind this Mastodon-ism, and it cannot be done until that aforementioned robust solution is complete.
This is where thisismissem@hachyderm.io would weigh in since this is part of what the Trust & Safety TF is working on.
