@scintilla she’s kinda right but with two colours it’s really easy to see a drop.

Repairing it, however, requires a crochet hook and a simple rhyme: under one, over two, pull through!

This video explains it really well: https://youtu.be/AzrTu2t6CzI

@venite thanks. It’s a bit too bulky for my liking but wow is it warm so I’ll be wearing it when it’s subzero again.

@scintilla not really, it’s actually simpler with two colours as you can see the yarn overs easier. Once you get the hang of it it’s very straight forward.

    BUT!

Decreases *are* fiddly (not hard just fiddly) so as it gets smaller, it gets fiddler and the margin for error is very small.

Don’t let me put you off, if you’ve got some yarn that’s left over just play about with it and see. I used this free pattern https://www.purlsoho.com/create/2025/09/09/two-color-brioche-hat/

Unnecessary brioche stitch hat is complete!

I say unnecessary because I don’t really need another hat and I only made it to use up some good leftover yarn.

When I was making it, I thought the left hand version looked better, but wearing it I now prefer the right.

    What do you think?

    Friends!

Six weeks to the day when I first cast this on, and I’m happy to tell you that the #Startrek double #knitting scarf is complete!

This has been such a fun, and very challenging, project to make, at times feeling like it was never going to end.

I decided to make it fully, including the beads and I also added a fringe because every scarf needs a fringe if you ask me!

This is a surprise Christmas gift for a very close friend who’s a huge fan, I can’t wait to see the look on his face when he gets it!

I’m going to take a break from knitting now for this month, but there’s lots of other fun stuff lined up for next year.

    Some stats for nerds:

    611 rows.

    84 stitches per row.

    51,324 stitches in total.

    450 beads.

    1000 metres of yarn.

260 cm long, 20 cm wide.

    42 days in total.

    Around 100 hours of knitting.
