@_elena #YouTube has become more and more problematic throwing error messages for all sorts of reasons. Most things i watch are there given the sheer amount and variety of content vs. Peertube.
I use #FreeTube and at times have to change #VPN connections in order to watch videos, at times some will only open in a browser.
It's definitely a hot mess. I wish #Peertube were a viable alternative for more than just #foss stuff but alas, it's not even close for most of what people watch/want.
So about that #Discord #AgeVerification #ID or #FaceScan mandate...

@pfr I did this with a Samsung S9 i got in 2019 and upgraded to a S25 last year, 6 years later. It was nice using it without a case and worked out fine. It was the battery life and fact it couldn't get OS or security updates anymore that finally made me upgrade.
@fahim_ahmed @Gargron Or, use a fork if you're like most users and don't either have the time or want to put it in to do something already done ootb that continues to update accordingly as Mozilla adds more things you don't want... unlike your user.js.
If you want more control over your config... there's certainly that option as well.
@Gargron Firefox imo is still great, provided you choose a fork that removes the things you don't want or need. Librewolf's been my daily driver for years and it works great.
@_elena Yes, that definitely is a huge plus and reason why i've preferred the fediverse for a long time.
I've tried to use IG, i spent 2 years checking out Bluesky until a few months ago but i've used Mastodon and other ActivityPub projects for 8 years now and if this/these places didn't exist in this way, i'm honestly unsure if i'd bother at all with social media.
Mastodon's chronological feeds and lack of advertising make it a great place to be. :)
@_elena There are definitely accounts here that post #AISlop images. Many of the ones i see are using them along with the #infosec hashtag which i follow.
While it's certainly better than many other places, there are people who for some reason or another will post links to articles, blogs or whatever and instead of allowing the link preview to generate, will add some AI image.
Usually these are very small accounts here doing it, but i've muted a few large ones doing it as well.

Also, i get that everyone dislikes #AI and for good reason, but it's now also going to be acceptable for it to be used in development of the #linux kernel itself.
There are places where it works, and places where it's annoying and no one asked for it. Mozilla adding it to Firefox is obviously the latter of the two but AI overall is here to stay in some regards obviously.
@rysiek Or, some of us will continue using forks as long as possible. It's been many years since i've used anything other than Librewolf as my daily driver.
