@graydon The easier something is to measure, the harder people work to optimize it. Design is reduced to coding which is reduced to typing. Programmers work really hard to minimize typing. Even when it makes testing and debugging and future development more difficult.
10x productivity is real, but it comes from understanding the domain, and from years of lessons learned the hard way.
