Good morning. đŸ„â€đŸŸ«đŸ„â€đŸŸ«đŸ„â€đŸŸ«25 April 2026Charlie let out a brief howl this morning. I’m not sure what set him off — I was in my office and he was in the family room — but it was enough to make me get up and investigate. What did I find? Just Charlie staring at me like I was the one making noise. I let him outside, but he came right back in. The TV was on, so my best guess is that one of those little commercial jingles came on, the kind that flips his internal “must howl now” switch. I’ve seen him do it before, and I still have no explanation for the phenomenon. In other news, I bought a battery‑charger shelf to corral all the chargers and batteries that had taken over the worktable in my small garage, which doubles as a tool shed and storage space. The kit arrived in approximately a zillion tiny parts, but assembling it turned out to be easier than expected.Mounting it on the wall, however, was another story. I had exactly one spot a little over three feet wide, and the shelf itself is about three feet wide. My first attempt — mounting it directly to the wall — didn’t hit any studs, and I didn’t trust the anchors to hold the weight of all those batteries. So off to Lowe’s I went, where I picked up a 3'×2'Ă—Âœ" piece of plywood and a new stud finder. I anchored the plywood to two studs with five screws each, mounted the shelf to the plywood, and voilĂ  — a piece of engineering that surely ranks among the great achievements of modern civilization.Think pyramid‑level accomplishment. The dog is a gentleman; I hope to go to his heaven, not man’s.” — Mark Twain“Any man who does not like dogs and want them about does not deserve to be in the White House.” — Calvin Coolidge“Engineers like to solve problems. If there are no problems handily available, they will create their own.” — Scott Adams #photo #photography #photographer #photographylovers #nature #morning #mushrooms #dogs #engineering

Flag and FeathersI took this photo of hundreds of black skimmers sweeping past a prominent building near the docks in Gulfport, Mississippi. I played with the light to create a sky washed in deep orange, leaving the birds and the building softly pale against it.The photographs I share here don’t appear as vivid as they do in my Pixel’s gallery. To make them load more easily, I reduce their size and slightly lower their quality. Take a look:https://swede1952-photographs.pixels.com#photo #photography #photographer #photographylovers #wildlife #nature #bird #birds #birding #birdwatching #birdphotography #blackskimmers #Gulfport #shorebirds

    Golden ObserverThis is an American Goldfinch (Spinus tristis). I photographed this particular bird several years ago.Step into a world where even the smallest moments—like the glint in a bird's eye—tell their own story.https://swede1952-photographs.pixels.com#photo #photography #photographer #photographylovers #wildlife #nature #bird #birds #birding #birdwatching #birdphotography #finch #goldfinch

Sparrow in a Pine TreeThis is a chipping sparrow (Spizella passerina), which I suspect has the largest population around here at the moment — though the goldfinches might have them beat. Hard to say for sure. There’s no official count, just what the eyes and ears suggest. If you enjoy photos of birds and other wildlife, take a look at my photo gallery. Good morning. 💼💼💼7 November 2025Hills and ProblemsWhen you set out walking, you inevitably come to hills. You climb one, no big deal—but sure enough, there’s always another waiting on the other side. That’s life.We face problems. Some loom larger than others, demanding our attention. We fixate on the one that feels most urgent, believing that solving it will lift a great weight off our shoulders. And it does—briefly. But that’s the thing about problems: solve one, and another steps up to take its place. It’s like reaching the top of a hill only to find another rising beyond it.So what do you do?You keep walking. You face the next hill. The world doesn’t pause for our troubles—we all carry them. It’s just that our own burdens often feel heavier than they truly are. So take a breath. It’s not the end of the world.Remember how you felt when you were young. We had problems then too, but somehow we were better at keeping them in their place. We compartmentalized. Our troubles stayed in their box while joy, curiosity, and play lived in others. We dealt with what needed dealing, then moved on. We didn’t let worry steal every moment.Learn to do that again. Learn to stop worrying.“Life doesn’t get easier or more forgiving, we get stronger and more resilient.” — Steve Maraboli“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” — Winston Churchill“We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us.” — Joseph Campbell#photo #photography #photographer #photographylovers #wildlife #nature #bird #birds #birding #birdwatching #birdphotography #morning #flower #worry #resiliance #compartmentalizing
