    Qualche giorno fa parlando di alternative a Google, ecc. avevo nominato Serverplan. E' un'azienda italiana, con datacenter a Roma, di cui sono cliente soddisfatto da una ventina d'anni.Considerato che qui sono assenti gli ho scritto per segnalargli il fatto che nel #Fediverso potrebbero trovare molte persone interessate ai loro servizi.Beh la persona a cui ho scritto non sapeva cosa fosse il Fediverso.Gli ho mandato un link al video di @_elena e uno al sito "Join The Fediverse".Per dire... neanche gli addetti ai lavori sanno che esistiamo. 🙁Abbiamo tante persone che hanno lavorato allo sviluppo del SW necessario a far vivere il Fediverso e praticamente nessuno che lavori per farlo conoscere in giro.Ma voglio vedere la parte mezza piena del bicchiere: nonostante non ci sia quasi nessuno che lavora per far conoscere il Fediverso noi siamo riusciti ad arrivarci. Pensate se facessimo qualcosa di più per far conoscere il posto...

    È Natale… poi arriva Capodanno… e subito dopo la Befana.Un trittico di giorni che, per chi ci crede o no, ha un potere strano ma reale… quello di rallentare il rumore e far respirare la testa.Allora dichiariamolo ufficialmente, un periodo di pausa e leggerezza. Un periodo in cui proviamo, anche solo un po’, a essere più positivi verso tutti. A rispondere con un sorriso invece che con un muro. A dare spazio a ciò che unisce, invece che a ciò che divide.Perché l’anno nuovo è lì, ormai e io voglio che qualcosa cambi.Lo so… sembrano i soliti propositi che si ripetono ogni anno. Ma stavolta lo sento diverso. Non so se in bene o in male, però so una cosa con certezza… io ci voglio entrare dentro, in questo 2026, con intenzione e coraggio.E la mia scelta è chiara.Voglio dedicarmi più che mai al #Fediverso italiano. Non per “fare scena”, non per parlare… ma per fare. Per migliorarlo, anche solo di un centimetro alla volta. Più accoglienza, più collaborazione, più comunità, più persone che si aiutano invece di farsi la guerra per niente.Ci riuscirò?Qualcuno seguirà l’esempio?Chi già ci sta provando avrà voglia di unire le forze?Non lo so.Però so che vale la pena provarci. E che certe cose cambiano solo quando qualcuno smette di chiedere “chi lo farà” e decide “inizio io”.Io ci sto.E tu?🙏@fediverso

    I think I have identified a fairly significant flaw in how the #Fediverse currently operates. Hear me out.The Fediverse currently consists of all sorts of different systems - #Mastodon, #Friendica , #Pixelfed , #PeerTube, #BookWyrm , and so forth. And while they are all connected via the #ActivityPub protocol, they all have different functionalities and different ways of presenting themselves. Which is as it should be, because Diversity Is Our Strength(TM).However, it is here that the ActivityPub-based interactivity hits its limits - for usually, you can either experience the relevant system as it was intended, or you can interact with it, but not both - _unless_ you have an account on the same system (though not necessarily on the same instance).Let's say that you are a Mastodon user who looks at another person's BookWyrm page. You scroll through their books, posts, and comments. Then you see some comment you want to comment on yourself, but can you do so?Not directly. You need to figure out the URL of their comment, and then copy and paste that comment into the search bar of your Mastodon instance. Then it will show up in the same format as a Mastodon post, and you can interact with it - boost it, like it, comment on it.Sure, it works, but it's a whole lot of tedious effort.Or you can search for the user account in Mastodon and scroll through all their posts and comments as if they were a Mastodon user - and thus, you will miss out on all the unique user interface features of BookWyrm.So what is missing?Well, Mastodon already has an "Open original page" feature when looking at someone's post. What we need is an "Open original page AND AUTHENTICATE" feature. This way, the target instance (whatever software they are using) could acknowledge the viewer as an external user who could nevertheless fully interact with the local user interface, including the ability to boost, like, and make comments.This is something that should be theoretically possible to implement, right? #FediHelp

    BIG PEERTUBE CO-OP UPDATE: Last night, I interviewed the final steering committee candidate. And just like that—it’s official. We now have seven incredible people (plus me) who’ve come together to co-organize this co-op. Every single person brings something unique—skills, experience, heart—and it honestly feels like we’re assembling a dream team. This moment is a turning point. We’re no longer just talking about starting a co-op. We are one in the making. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be shaping our mission, vision, and bylaws—the foundation for what will eventually become a fully incorporated BC co-operative.
