While talking to a colleague about how I recently learned most people have never sat on a cow it came up that she has never sat on a horse. Like, not even once during childhood.
Another colleague admitted they also have never sat on a horse.
My hypothesis is that most people have at one point in their life sat on a horse.

@Pepijn I briefly took riding lessons as a child (English not Western). I even did a bit of jumping.
My family could not afford it for long so I had to quit. But it was so much fun while it lasted! -

@Pepijn Once. W program that let school kids try different sports. None of them stuck but one of them had me riding. Neither me nor horse liked it.

When I was 19 or so my girlfriend at the time and I sat on horses that walked very slowly along the beach in Galveston. When I sat on my horse it started peeing and it Just. Didnβt. Stop. I experienced this with growing awe and horror as it just kept coming.

When I was very little our landlady had family who had a farm, and we used to visit, and I was placed on a very big horse. I expect the photo is still at Mum's house somewhere.
Roll on 30 years, and at university a few of use postgrad students took up riding lessons for a while. I love the horses, but didn't really have the nerve to get the best from it.

I was taught how to milk a cow.In Ireland either the poor or very rich keep horses. There is even a "pound" for wandering horses in Limerick city.

@Pepijn I think I've only done it once though, and that was at a distant relation's acreage (they owned horses). I can't think of when else I would have had the opportunity without deliberately seeking it out. And I live in Cowboy Country.

@Pepijn@mastodon.online there was this viral video a few years ago of a girl who taught her cow to jump obstacles even. I think they had a farm but weren't able to have a horse.

I sat on a horse and as well on a cow. Didn't see the cow poll so unfortunately I couldn't vote.
In addition I sat on a pig as well π
My grandpa and two uncles were farmers and I spent most of my school holidays there. My cousin and I tried to ride all of them, but we only succeeded on horses, no real ride on cow and pig π€·πΌ -
