Hi #fediverse. We need to talk about something.
While talking to a colleague about how I recently learned most people have never sat on a cow it came up that she has never sat on a horse. Like, not even once during childhood.
Another colleague admitted they also have never sat on a horse.
My hypothesis is that most people have at one point in their life sat on a horse.

@Pepijn I think I've only done it once though, and that was at a distant relation's acreage (they owned horses). I can't think of when else I would have had the opportunity without deliberately seeking it out. And I live in Cowboy Country.

@Pepijn@mastodon.online there was this viral video a few years ago of a girl who taught her cow to jump obstacles even. I think they had a farm but weren't able to have a horse.

@eigengott @Pepijn wikipedia tells me a pony is a type of horse, so it should count! (otherwise i voted wrong '^^)

I sat on a horse and as well on a cow. Didn't see the cow poll so unfortunately I couldn't vote.
In addition I sat on a pig as well ๐
My grandpa and two uncles were farmers and I spent most of my school holidays there. My cousin and I tried to ride all of them, but we only succeeded on horses, no real ride on cow and pig ๐คท๐ผ -

@Pepijn Animals I have sat upon (mostly when I was young and wee): sheep, goat, pig, cow, horse, and whale (dead, skeletonised).

@Pepijn i thought this sounded super silly until i realized that even me, who basically never leaves my house, have sat on a horse once before. So maybe you're onto something...

The cow is named Luna and can do 8 jumps until she is tired.

I have sat on a horse, but I suspect most people have not. I don't think any of my kids (youngest is old enough to vote) have sat on a horse ever

@Pepijn@mastodon.online Have had the opportunity on a handful of occasions and have always refused. Horses terrified me when I was a child, and I'm still wary of them (for broadly similar reasons) as an adult.

Yes. We owned a horse once briefly.And in fact, I even once sat on an elephant (ouch BTW. Their hairs are stiff like tiny needles.)

@Pepijn No, Iโve never sat on a horse. Iโve only ridden a pony once and ended up with a broken arm from falling off it.
@Broadfork @Pepijn I am pretty sure pony is just type of a horse, so sitting on a pony is sitting on a horse
