Is there any fediverse software to create groups that are findable for anyone, but can only be read by members? I have a bunch of use cases where I'd like to try and offer an alternative to FB groups, which has become the staple go to solution here in Sweden even among people who intuitively dislike FB. #fediverse

I requested a public figure turn on #threads #activityPub #Fediverse bridging by finding a contact email address on their webpage and including this message.

I'm writing to request that you turn on the fediverse bridge on your Threads account. This will allow me, and others on the 'verse, to follow your posts and updates without having to agree to Meta's EULA and give them access to personal data nor use freedom denying closed source non-free software that I don't want to.

Feel free to copy/paste if it makes it easier for you to do similarly. Let me know if you get any positive responses and any improvements to this general message that are made. Maybe we can create something that makes it even easier for others to do similarly.

i'm really confused, but that's nothing new. ;-)
i just figured since i was cc'd on the announcement and it pertained to RSS that there would be a feed in there somewhere i could brag about.
I do most of my feed reading in FeedLand, of course.

@darnell @pfefferle @davew No need to export it to the Jetpack app, it works the same there!

@NickBohle @darnell The ActivityPub plugin simply checks if Jetpack is installed on your blog. If not, it will do nothing ☺️
No lookups, no pings, just a local check for another plugin.
