Controversial personal take.
Don’t get me wrong — I appreciate the work behind #gazaverified.
But the way it ended up is starting to look like spam:- accounts keep asking to follow people who never speak about the matter
- replies that have nothing to do with the discussion
- the same automated posts repeated endlesslyIn my view, this behaviour ends up hurting the cause more than helping it.
(I don't know, I was hoping for more real insights from people there who are less hard-hit by starvation)

@luca 👆 this.
Also they only take credit cards, which many people don't have.
And I'm really getting ovewhelmed with requests since I started really supporting someone.I really had to stop sharing the posts because it's just too much. Like I get it, people are suffering and I wish I could help, but I simply can't.

@luca
I see a sort of competition, ranking of the donations amounts, and the use of shocking images and stories to increase fundraising.
Can we call these spam, similar to any unsolicited, off-topic, massively sent messages?
I notice one of these spamming accounts asking for money, though it is not a Gaza-verified, it simply uses the same name and profile picture of a verified account. That sound like a scam, but the verified account reboosts the unverified one, so it's not, -

Why? That was an opaque job

@luca I choose to not feed this competition, and to donate with the mediation of someone I know in real life.

I'm on a personal instance and also today, two follow requests from these people.
No, you can't follow me.
Do these people even care to read what we wrote about , or is it automatic scraping ?
