It looks like they're no longer around? Bummer.
Can't really find anything about the server shutting down, any chance someone on here knows more?

I was hoping to add them as a case study on https://stefanbohacek.com/blog/fediverse-an-overview-for-community-organizers/. Shame.
Hope the Forkiverse people are still having a good time!

Hmm, originally I was looking for examples of existing communities moving to the fediverse, the way the Forkiverse started, to inspire others to do the same.
But maybe my thinking was too narrow. Showing examples of successful communities might still help convince people to create their own.
Thank you for the idea, I'll look into what @stefano has been up to!

The article mentions a subreddit, but doesn't link to it

@irelephant Yeah, I have a feeling that one is not around either.

I never understood this Pebble story , maybe I missed some pieces of info.
As I remember it
- They made a twitter clone.
- They decided to close it
- They let their community vanish
- They started a Mastodon server some few weeks/months later trying to convince their users back by word of mouth. Would you trust the team that just shut your social down ?They had their own legacy Pebble database, they could have backfilled the mastodon instance with users and who was following who.
They could have made the transiton effortless, instead of an afterthought -

They could have made the transiton effortless, instead of an afterthought@luca Hmm, sounds like you know more than me. I thought there was a more gradual transition to the Mastodon server.
But yeah, seeing as they did eventually disappear without a trace, I don't feel super trustworthy of them, for sure.
