03:10 The best way to help@gbryant I might be in the minority here, but 720p with great compression is honestly good enough for me. What matters the most is that your video is able to convey what it needs to - perhaps only uploading in 1080p when you believe it necessary?
I'll look into being able to give some cash 😃 Man, do I wish we had a good solution for micro-payments online... I would gladly donate micro-payments to creators.

@bloodaxe@fosstodon.org Yeah, if you're mainly doing a talking video the image quality really doesn't matter. I think Chris Were did a video ages ago where he tried going down to 480p and it didn't matter because he just does talking videos.

@fedivideo Honestly YouTube has spoiled us. Content can be streamed in 4k simply because they are as big as they are, and can "afford" the bandwidth + datacosts.
720p is more than good enough for most content. That's the format I save my own gaming clips in, because what matters is the atmosphere of the moments I capture, not necessarily a 1:1 crisp image of the experience.
With good encoding, anything is possible
