I thought that too when I got my mechanical keyboard, and now I'm an old fart and ergonomics start to matter and I constantly curse myself because the distance between the wasd keys and my mouse is too wide to game comfortably for prolonged periods because of the numpad.

Thought the same, ages ago, after 20+ years with a huge and lovely IBM Model M.
Then I bought a tenkeyless, and then another.
And now my daily driver has 68 keys and I find myself thinking to move to 42...
All this in the latest six years!
