I see more independent infrastructure springing up on https://atp.fyi/network, including AppViews.
For anyone hoping that we'll get another wave of people coming to the fediverse once Bluesky folds/enshittifies, that might not necessarily be the case as people will have more options to stay in the Atmosphere.

@stefan Everyone's version of toxic and unwelcoming seems to be different, so they join tribes where they can be toxic and unwelcoming to anyone they view as toxic and unwelcoming. One would wish everyone could just get along, but history seems to point to that being a chapter yet to be written.

@stefan I like that things are becoming more federated. What makes me a bit sad is that we still can't all be online using the same protocol. But then again, that's nothing new, people have always been spread across different platforms anyway, Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter... without being able to communicate with each other.

@stefan What did I miss with the Bluesky stuff? I'm seeing a lot of people close their bridge from Masto->Bsky down. Is it because bsky.social hosts ICE and such?

@stefan interesting, I've been wanting to see who's on bluesky just cause of how much bigger the userbase is, but I've hesitated to create an account there knowing it might not last very long. Following bluesky users from mastodon seems clunky. Will be watching the rollout of these other ones though I am not Black or European

@rolle I guess if the fediverse keeps pushing people away, and ATProto gains wide enough adoption, and it becomes easy to run your whole stack, I might just look into that.
Until then, I'll have to stick with the fediverse, as that's the only truly grassroots option.

@incentive Yeah, that happened after Bluesky verified ICE.
But that's a bit shortsighted, because you'd be closing off yourself from Blacksky, and soon other independent ATProto/Atmosphere communities.

@stefan I think it's possibly shortsighted too but I'm not going to judge anyone for feeling convicted and choosing that as their form of action.
Grateful for your post though, did not know about Blacksky until today. Something to read up on over lunch. 🤝
