I want a planetarium projector (a real one) except for the fact that I lack the adequately large hemisphere needed for such a thing, and also they're prohibitively expensive.@triptych I've got one of these https://sciplus.com/star-projector-w-white-and-rgb-leds-req-3-aas/ and it's very pleasant but the star pattern is pretty half assed. I wouldn't mind something that uses the same premise but has a more aesthetically pleasing distribution of stars. I like that it covers all my walls though not just the ceiling.

I'm so happy mastodon is really popping off.I'm so happy mastodon is really popping off. You new kids probably wouldn't realize it but just three weeks ago you used to have to read your toots aloud to your exhausted family members and random strangers on the train if you wanted anyone to see them

This is a CSG (Constructive Solid Geometry) system built around composing signed distance functions in Lua (formerly in Racket). These are translated to an evaluator that can be ran on the CPU, and generated shaders for fast rendering. Models can be rendered in real time, or exported to common file formats for other purposes like 3D printing.
